Nick Vujicic, speaker and Youtube star, was born without arms or legs. He gets by with help from mechanical ingenuity, his family and friends, and God. He says, "Motivation gets you through the day, but inspiration lasts a lifetime," and he means it. The stories he tells evoke both sympathy and empathy and yet move the reader beyond those feelings toward motivation to overcome the obstacles in our lives, even if we are the ones who create them.
“I do believe my life has no limits! I want you to feel the same way about your life, no matter what your challenges may be. As we begin our journey together, please take a moment to think about any limitations you’ve placed on your life or that you’ve allowed others to place on it. Now think about what it would be like to be free of those limitations. What would your life be if anything were possible?” —Nick Vujicic, from Life Without Limits
The first few chapters of Life Without Limits read as if Vujicic was copying notes from his speaking engagements. The information and stories were good, but more tailored for an oral presentation. However, a few chapters in, Vujicic started to outline by breaking his philosophies down into specific sections. The book became easier to follow. When it is easier to pay attention, it's easier to reap the benefits of the wisdom it contains!
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this book for anyone who needs motivation. It's not "preachy" and it is relatable despite differences in background or theology. Vujicic doesn't just relay his own personal triumphs living with no limbs. He also tells the stories of dozens of people who trusted God, trusted themselves and overcame odds that would keep a regular Joe or Jane down. Vujicic is truly living life without limits and showing others how to do the same!
